Welcome to the WA Health Promoting Schools Association (Inc.) website.
The WA Health Promoting Schools Association (WAHPSA) advocates and supports a whole school and community approach to health and wellbeing. The Association achieves this through education, coordination and collaboration with school communities and health agencies.
Formerly known as the School Health Coalition, WAHPSA was established in 1989 and is currently comprised of over 40 health and school organisations. Membership consists of fully paid members and invited guests and is inclusive of the health and education sectors and other related sectors with the common goal of improving the health of young people through school based health promotion activities.
A Special Thank-You!
The WA Health Promoting Schools Association Inc (WAHPSA) would like to thank all those who attended the Reflections and Future Directions networking breakfast on Friday, 24th May 2013, held at Kulcha on the Fremantle Cafe strip.
The event was a great success with over 40 industry professionals attending. Attendees enjoyed meeting, greeting and learning more about each other's organisations and the valuable work going on in W.A. All breakfast attendees received a free copy of the WAHPSA resource ‘What is a Health Promoting School?’and also enjoyed the delicious catering.
A high point of the conference was the talk given by special guest speaker Associate Professor Stacey Waters, Head of ECU's Child Health Promotion Research Centre. Stacey reflected on use of the Health Promoting Schools framework and its application, current trends and resources, and provided advice about effectively supporting the health needs of young people for the future.
Once again, thanks to all who attended the conference.
