The ARACY (Australian Research
Alliance for Children and Youth) Conference, with its theme of Transforming Australia for our
children’s future: Making prevention work, attracted 560 national
and international delegates who spent three days discussing the issues that
prevent Australia being a fully inclusive society, and bringing to the forefront
of people’s minds the importance of improving the wellbeing of children and
young people.
Make sure you visit the ARACY
website www.aracy.org.au to access the key note
presentations. Fiona Stanley’s address encapsulated the themes of the three days
and gave a succinct and powerful overview of the issues for our young people in
the 21st century. This is very useful information for those of you
who may be advocating for, and creating an awareness of the issues surrounding
the wellbeing of our children and young people.
Out of
the Conference, a call to action was made to the entire Australian community -
to the Australian Government; to state, territory and local governments; to
community and business leaders. The Conference Declaration
includes four key strategies to improve wellbeing for young Australians. Read
the Conference
Declaration.
