To coincide with
the AHPSA 8th National Conference, a pre-conference workshop is being organised
for Wednesday 6th October 2010.This
workshop will be a stand alone event and can be attended by those who are
attending the conference as well as those who are not.
This is a rare
opportunity to participate in a one day workshop facilitated by international
and local health promotion experts.
Although planning
of the workshop is currently in development, it is anticipated that the
workshop will be designed for teachers who teach health and for those who are
working in the field of school health promotion.

to improve health and wellbeing.
Goal
To explore how
the principles and practice of Health Promoting Schools could help students
face new social and emotional health challenges and enhance teaching through
healthy school policies, building active competencies, developing personal
health skills, building supportive environments (physical and social), and
improving community linkages and services for health promotion.
Key objectives
At the conclusion
of the workshop participants will be able to;
Make use of the different components of the
Health Promoting Schools toolkit to manage emerging health issues within
schools
Use the concept of Health Promoting Schools
to enrich health curriculum
