WAHPSA
has reserved a
number of rooms for delegates which will remain on hold until Monday
6th
September 2010. After this date delegates will still be eligible
for the
discounted rate (remember to quote the code "AHP") but rooms will be
subject to hotel
availability. Rooms have been reserved for the nights of
Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th October 2010.
The
discounted
nightly room rate is $260.00 and is based on single, twin, or double
occupancy
and includes GST. This rate is for
either an Urban Twin or Urban Queen room and includes a buffet breakfast
for two
people at Sirocco Restaurant.
Reservations
are to
be made individually by
delegates and credit card details will be required when
making
reservations. Delegates
are responsible for their own account. Delegates will also
be
required to provide an imprint of their credit card at check-in.
For
cancellations and
no-shows, a charge equal to one night’s accommodation will apply to any
rooms
cancelled 48 hours prior to the arrival date or any non-arrival of
booked rooms.

Pre-Conference Workshop
A pre-conference workshop is being
organised for Wednesday 6th October 2010.This workshop will be a stand alone event and can be attended by those
who are attending the conference as well as those who are not.
This is a rare opportunity to participate
in a one day workshop facilitated by international and local health promotion
experts.
Although planning of the workshop is
currently in development, it is anticipated that the workshop will be designed
for teachers who teach health and for those who are working in the field of
school health promotion.

Never ending health challenges in schools: HealthPromotingSchool as a solution
Goal
To explore how the principles and practice
of Health Promoting Schools could help students face new social and emotional
health challenges and enhance teaching through healthy school policies,
building active competencies, developing personal health skills, building
supportive environments (physical and social), and improving community linkages
and services for health promotion.
Key objectives
At the conclusion of the workshop
participants will be able to;

Make use of the different components of the Health Promoting Schools toolkit to
manage emerging health issues within schools
*
Use the concept of Health Promoting Schools to enrich health curriculum

Scholarships

the very generous support of Healthway , WAHSPA is pleased to announce a limited
number of scholarships to support people attend the 8th National AHPSA
conference and the pre-conference workshop. These scholarships are only
available to those people in regional
and rural WA who are involved in health education and
health promotion in schools.
For
those people who are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. Healthway have
available their regular Health Promoting Schools Grants to encourage schools to undertake activities that

Student Volunteers - Expressions of Interest
Students
interested in volunteering at the AHPSA conference are asked to register
their interest with the volunteer coordinator. Interested students
will be emailed with further information as it becomes available.
